Americanism Project

An Americanism Project

Exchange is supporting a documentary director who is buying steak dinners for the soldiers of Alpha Company 2/7 CAV stationed in Mosul, Iraq. We are looking for notes to soldiers or funds to support this patriotic effort.

As this project came about very quickly, time is of the essence. If you would like to include notes or letters from your club, they must be in our hands by Monday, September 17, 2007 to be included in the shipment. Donations can be sent to the NEC Foundation with Alpha Co. Project on the memo line.

A Little Background

Zaragoza Pictures, a company that worked with Exchange to film a PSA in Los Angeles, is filming an 18-month documentary of the true daily lives of the Alpha Company 2/7 CAV stationed in Mosul, Iraq. The director is in the middle of production and contacted us for some personal help because he remembered Exchange and our important causes.

For the documentary, Zaragoza Pictures works closely with about 15-20 soldiers, and when time and money permits the director buys steaks for them for a cook-out. He told us that the soldiers really enjoy this as it feels like a “taste of home.” He would really like to be able to do this for the entire company, but the money and availability of that many steaks makes it impossible.

The National Exchange Club is funding the purchase and shipment of 156 steaks to the Alpha Company in Mosul, Iraq, so our soldiers can have a small taste of home. In addition, the director would like us to include hand-written notes from our members saying thank-you for all the soldiers are doing and that we support them.

A Good Return

In addition to the warm feelings we’ll all get from this great project, Zaragoza Pictures will recognize Exchange in the documentary for the cook-out and record the soldiers reading our notes. They also will record some club members back in the U.S. reading any notes the soldiers send back. This documentary is slated to air on either the History Channel or Showtime.

Thank you!
