  2009 Convention speakers and entertainers

The 2009 National Exchange Club Convention and CAP Symposium promises to be an invigorating and inspiring event. Helping us get off to a great start are performances by a fun and surprising mix of people.

The opening entertainment event will be a blend of comedy, a cappella harmonies, and high-energy music. New! View clips of Buzz Sutherland, Chapter 6 and Rhythm Extreme.

Make plans now to join fellow Exchangites in Jacksonville, for the 2009 National Convention and Symposium!

Buzz Sutherland

Buzz Sutherland will serve as emcee for the evening, entertaining Exchangites with his smooth blend of home-spun characters and outrageous facial expressions. Buzz has won Comedian of the Year honors 13 times and was named Comedian of the Year for the last five years by the National Association of Campus Activities. He is well-known for his wonderful ability to be funny without being offensive. View clip of Buzz Sutherland.

Rhythm Extreme

Adding excitement and high-energy will be Rhythm Extreme. Multi-talented performers deliver a fast-paced series of percussion performances using anything and everything from ski-poles to frying pans. Add the troupe’s talents at tap, singing, musical instruments, and even juggling—and you’ve got one exhilarating show! View clip of Rhythm Extreme.

Chapter 6

Rounding out the evening will be Chapter 6, a professional a cappella ensemble from Illinois. Comprised of six vocalists and one arranger, Chapter 6 is the only vocal ensemble to win both the International Competition of Collegiate A Cappella and the National Harmony Sweepstakes. Chapter 6 has appeared with the National Symphony Orchestra at the Kennedy Center, and was featured on “American Idol: Season 7,” in conjunction with bandmate, Luke Menard. Their family-friendly show features a blend of pop/jazz harmonies and tongue-in-cheek lyrics. View clip of Chapter 6.

Dave Timmons

Dave Timmons is slated to be the keynote speaker at the convention’s opening session. Dave is dedicated to helping people discover and develop the leader that lies within. He inspires and motivates people to find new courage to achieve breakthrough results. Dave connects with and energizes his audience through humor, stories, and creative lyrics.

Bruce Sievers

Guests at the One Nation Under God Breakfast will meet James Bruce Joseph Sievers, who speaks across the country about the joy of being an American. Bruce has spoken to thousands of groups all across America over the last 30 years, including American Presidents – Gerald Ford, Jimmy Carter, Ronald Reagan and George Bush. President Ronald Reagan, along with the Freedoms Foundation at Valley Forge, awarded him the George Washington Medal of Honor for his presentation, “An American In Love With His Country.”

Tyler Bacon

Completing our slate of speakers is Tyler Bacon, who will be the featured speaker at the CAP Breakfast. At 23 years of age, Tyler is already a seasoned national public speaker and advocate for foster youth. He entered the foster care system at the age of 13 and was placed in several homes and schools before he aged out of the system at 18. Since 2005, and after a brief period of homelessness, Tyler has been working with FosterClub, the national network for young people in foster care. His passion for youth has led to many positions on local, state, and national youth and adult advocacy boards. Tyler has spoken in front of the Congressional Ways and Means Subcommittee on Income Security and Family Support and with legislators in an effort to change the foster care system.
