An Army veteran pursuing a bachelor’s degree in business administration earned a $2,000 scholarship from the Danbury Exchange Club.
Alan Sexton, a California native who served in the United Arab Emirates during his five years in the Army, won the club’s annual Charles Guarino Veterans Scholarship, according to a release.
The scholarship honors a full-time Western Connecticut State University student who is a veteran or a current member of the U.S. armed forces and maintains a grade point average of 2.5 or higher, the release said.
Sexton’s wife, Rebekah, also served in the Army and is pursuing studies in political science at WCSU, the university said.
“The Army gave me my wife and my daughter, Olivia, and set me up for success when I get out of school,” Sexton said in a prepared statement. Source.
