Every year, the Fontana Days celebration provides lots of enjoyable activities for local residents at Veterans Park.
And this year, there was a fun (and flavorful) addition to the festival — the first-ever Junior Chef Healthy Fontana Cooking Competition.
Five teams representing middle schools in Fontana used healthful ingredients to create their own delicious dishes on June 3, and a panel of three judges gave all the students high marks for their involvement.
In the end, four girls from Alder Middle School achieved first place in the competition. The Alder winners were Zaleen Orozco, Emma Ramos, Peyton Grant, and Kaylee Mederos, and their advisors in the Afterschool Program were Sharon Cochran and Sid Suarez. Read more.
