National Exchange Club Foundation FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions)

Q: What does the NEC Foundation do?
A: The NEC Foundation supports Exchange’s Programs of Service (Youth Projects, Americanism, and Community Service) and the National Project, the prevention of child abuse.
Q: How is it supported?
A: A portion of the funds come from Exchange’s dues supplement of $10 per year, per member. Additional funds are generated through member contributions and other fundraising efforts.
Q: How are funds spent?
A: Services to Exchange Clubs and Exchange CAP Centers, as well as youth scholarships, comprise much of our budget expenditure. The NEC Foundation also funds the costs for national CAP staff to provide training, accreditation, technical support, and other services – at no cost to the local CAP Centers. Additionally, the NEC Foundation provides public awareness materials, information, and guidance on programs are provided to Exchange Clubs.
Q: How is the NEC Foundation managed?
A: The Board of Trustees provides policy and fiduciary oversight for the NEC Foundation. Three Trustees are elected by NEC Convention delegates and the remainder are appointed by NEC leadership groups to facilitate the relationship between the two organizations. The NEC Foundation’s fundraising activities are managed by the Development Director.
Q: Is my contribution tax-deductible?
A: Yes. Your contribution is tax deductible as allowed by law. The NEC Foundation is registered with the Internal Revenue Service as a 501(c)(3), charitable organization.
Q: Are there long range goals?
A: Yes. The Board of Trustees has developed a strategic plan, which provides continuity for existing projects while enabling us to expand horizons. Key elements of the strategic plan focus on enhancing communications within our own networks and creating a stronger image of Exchange.
Q: What will secure our future?
A: In addition to fundraising efforts to support ongoing operational expenses, we encourage support of the Heritage Society, Campaign for Kids, our endowment through Berkey Fellowships and other contributions.

A: Your on-going support is critical to continue existing programs and expanding our efforts. Your tax-deductible contribution is our lifeline.
