Kindergarten students treated to morning at Exchange Club fair

Every kindergartener in Glynn County skipped class Wednesday morning.

They could be found at the Exchange Club Fairgrounds in Brunswick, which opened early, just for them.

The Exchange Club of Brunswick hosted the Sunshine Festival on Wednesday. Every year, the club opens the fair exclusively for local kindergarten students, their teachers and parents.

“It’s just a way for us to give back to the community,” said Mark Westberry, an Exchange Club member and organizer of the festival. “The carnival operators, they love doing it … There’s a lot of the students that will come out today, this is their only opportunity to come.”

More than 1,200 students romped around the fairgrounds. The students came from Glynn County Schools, Frederica Academy, St. Francis Xavier Catholic School and Todd Grant Elementary School in McIntosh County. Read more.
