Rudo Mashindi, MD, ABFM was the featured speaker at the regular meeting of the Exchange Club of Beardstown on Jan. 5. Dr. Mashindi, who practices at the Taylor Clinic in Beardstown, came to the U.S. at the age of 19 from Zimbabwe where she had studied biology. At the age of 6, she had decided she wanted to be a doctor after shadowing her mother who was a nurse in Zimbabwe. A devout Christian dedicated to helping people, she completed her medical degree in Family Medicine at the University of Kentucky. In Beardstown, her focus is on Women’s Health, Dermatology, and Sports Medicine. In her talk, Dr. Mashindi elaborated on Sports Medicine, saying it’s not just for athletes but deals with muscle and joint pain, arthritis, and fractures. She has done a fellowship in Sports Medicine. She also noted that physical therapy is the cornerstone of sports medicine and a physical therapy clinic is located in Beardstown. Source.
