Parent Aide Program
Program Overview
The Exchange Club Parent Aide Program is a family-centered, voluntary, in-home prevention program serving families with children from birth through age 17 who are at risk for child abuse or neglect. The program is designed to increase safety and reduce risk factors associated with child abuse and neglect.
Families and caregivers will be provided with individualized support, including:
- Assessment of family needs and dynamics
- Problem solving and coping skills
- Observing and modeling effective parenting
- Education on child development and safety
- Reduction of parental stressors and risk factors
- Connection to community resources to meet basic needs
- Connection to medical, dental, and mental health needs
How the Program Works
Initial Needs Assessment
Structured assessment of family strengths, risks, and goals.
Weekly In-Home Visits
Consistent visits focused on child safety and stability.
Parent Education
Coaching in positive parenting and problem-solving skills.
Professional Supervision
Trained Parent Aides supported to ensure fidelity and quality.

Research & Evidence Base
Exchange/SCAN Evaluation (1989): Families completing at least six months of service experienced substantiated re report rates of approximately 6–7%, substantially lower than comparison findings. (PDF)
